Derby has bid to be City of Culture 2025. Here are a few ideas that could help support the bid.
Possible improvements in Derby
- Artwork in huge frames in places like the Market Place, in buildings, villages, and areas of beauty
- Supersize one or two bus stops
- Five-minute car parking bays to collect friends and family
- City centre knowledge points that assists shoppers with things like the location of shops or landmarks such as St Peters or Cathedrale Quarter
- Improving traffic conditions
- Naming some of the roundabouts or new roundabouts after flora and fauna native to Derbyshire
- Improve lighting around the Newdigate Street / Sinfin Lane junction
- Change the position of the stop line at the traffic lights on the roundabout at the end of Burton Road going towards Littleover
- Traffic-calming measures near children’s nurseries
- New house builds to include community groups or small businesses in their garages or extensions
- Mackworth Housing – the proposed Infinity Garden Village south of Sinfin
