Possible Improvements to Support City of Culture Bid

 Written by Murray:

Derby has bid to be City of Culture 2025. Here are a few ideas that could help support the bid.

Possible improvements in Derby

  • Artwork in huge frames in places like the Market Place, in buildings, villages, and areas of beauty
  • Supersize one or two bus stops
  • Five-minute car parking bays to collect friends and family
  • City centre knowledge points that assists shoppers with things like the location of shops or landmarks such as St Peters or Cathedrale Quarter
  • Improving traffic conditions
  • Naming some of the roundabouts or new roundabouts after flora and fauna native to Derbyshire
  • Improve lighting around the Newdigate Street / Sinfin Lane junction
  • Change the position of the stop line at the traffic lights on the roundabout at the end of Burton Road going towards Littleover
  • Traffic-calming measures near children’s nurseries
  • New house builds to include community groups or small businesses in their garages or extensions
  • Mackworth Housing – the proposed Infinity Garden Village south of Sinfin
