CycleSecure in the city centre
I would place a CycleSecure at the Matalan car park, close to Bradshaw Way. This could maybe house 50 bikes in 4 car spaces.I would place another one at the NCP Siddals Road car park, providing CycleSecure storage at the end of the cycle route along the River Derwent.
And a third bike safe by Silk Mill Park, which would connect with cyclists coming from Kedleston Road, Duffield Road and from the cycle route coming from the north of Derby along the River Derwent.
Maybe there could also be a locker area? This would be a great addition to the Derbion. It wouldn’t disrupt people driving into the basement car park, and it would support the staff that work in the Derbion as well as shoppers.
My friend, a postman who cycles regularly into town every day, has had his bike stolen in the city centre. It would be great if some CycleSecure facilities were added to The Spot, replacing the basic bike stands there.
It could increase footfall in the Market Hall, which would be great for the stalls. It’s also close to the council building, Cathedral Quarter, the Eagle Market, and the Derbion.
Another idea might be to place the CycleSecure around the outside of the Market Hall building if it wasn’t possible inside. Or if one of the kiosks in the Market Place is unused, how about changing one of the cabins into a CycleSecure.
So what do you think to having more CycleSecures around Derby?
CycleSecure in the basement car park in the Derbion
There is a CycleSecure facility in the Bold Lane Parksafe car park. I think it would be great to add something similar to the basement car park at the Derbion. Somewhere that’s enclosed, with maybe a fob wrist entry to open the gate and somewhere with camera security.Maybe there could also be a locker area? This would be a great addition to the Derbion. It wouldn’t disrupt people driving into the basement car park, and it would support the staff that work in the Derbion as well as shoppers.
CycleSecure in between Amplifon and Pure Gym at The Spot
I think another good location to have a CycleSecure facility is in between Amplifon and PureGym at The Spot. Just having normal bike stands can attract unwanted attention. My friend, a postman who cycles regularly into town every day, has had his bike stolen in the city centre. It would be great if some CycleSecure facilities were added to The Spot, replacing the basic bike stands there.
CycleSecure in the Market Hall
How about a CycleSecure in the Derby Market Hall? They could be set up along the sides by the stalls.
CycleSecure in the suburbs
I would place a CycleSecure or two near shops in each suburb. For example, in Littleover I would place one by the Co-op and one by Zan Fish, both of which are very popular. I think it would be great for businesses in Derby if this was considered.CycleSecure on the retail parks
I would also suggest having CycleSecure on retail parks, by the supermarkets and gyms. For example, by Sainsburys at the Wyvern, by Derby Arena, and by Everlast Sports Village. So what do you think to having more CycleSecures around Derby?
