Green Energy – Wildflower and Woodland Areas

Written by Murray:

I’ve read in the Derby Telegraph that there are proposals for the adding of solar farms to some villages in Derbyshire. But there are a couple of objections: people are concerned about the appearance of them, and how they would ruin rural land.

What if a solar farm was added around Primula Way in Littleover, with small pockets of woodland around it to obscure the vision. There could also be wildflower areas, great for the local ecosystems.

This could reduce the day-to-day costs of energy and we would have green energy and woodland/wildflower walks close by for families, retired couples and dog walkers.

  1. Solar farms are ugly but the idea to have small pockets of woodland and wildflower areas along side them would certainly make them more acceptable. I also think that solar panels should be obligatory on all new build properties. It would increase the cost of new homes but provide each household with green energy.

  2. I like the idea of walking the dog around pockets of solar farms with woodland and wildflower trails.
I think it would also be good if we could introduce community solar energy scheme's on warehouses, retail parks, and the big manufacturing companies like Toyota and Alstom.
I know a lot of people considered solar panels on their homes but they are not the right angle for the sun or the roofs are not a safe angle.
If you could buy a section of solar panels on the company roofs on the Wyvern or St Modwen Park for example, the host company could get a discount on their electricity bill and the community could get a discount added to their monthly bill. A win-win for everybody.
